Residency Sales Counselor

Location: East Lansing, MI

Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. We currently have a vacancy for a Residency Sales Counselor to work a Full Time schedule. In this position a Residency Sales Counselor will be responsible for lead development and relationship building interaction with prospects. Independently able to deliver sales and closing activity which meets or exceeds expectations by thoroughly understanding product and market variables, discovering prospect needs, overcoming obstacles and conducting effective negotiation. Functioning Promotes and represents the community professionally throughout the sales process from inquiry to move in, in addition to but not limited to the following duties:

  • Effectively responds to new inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Independently manages prospect inquiries and ensures that timely follow through is maintained in accordance with designated time frames.
  • Manages the sales process from initial inquiry to residency by effectively promoting the community to the prospect. Facilitates the process by understanding needs and independently making recommendations based on key information provided.
  • Negotiates obstacles and issues by understanding client needs and collaborating with community management.
  • Implements all SalesFIRST standards.
  • Communicates effectively with key influencers impacting the buying decision.
  • Generates adequate showing appointments as a result of effective prospecting. This may include phone outs, referral generation, use of e-mail, home visits, etc.
  • Staffs the office to meet business needs which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Participates in marketing events as directed by the Sales and Development Manager and Director of Sales.
  • Understands and articulately represents all documents related to residency, including Residency Agreement, Disclosure Statement, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree and 1 year of sales experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
  • Residency sales experience, particularly in a senior housing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and success with prospecting, qualifying and closing high-dollar sales, and with meeting or exceeding sales expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results including committed sales, highly satisfied customers, and referrals.
  • Professional level presentation and speaking skills in formal or informal smaller or larger group settings.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend written and oral instructions in English.
  • You must be able to work independently as well as a part of a highly productive team.
  • Ability to work an 8-hour shift on-site.
