Fitness Technician

Department: Therapy
Location: East Lansing, MI

Per Diem Position available.  Must be able to work flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  Fitness Tech Duties:

  • Implement group exercise and individualized programs.
  • Assist in scheduling / transporting / transferring / lifting residents as required for Fitness services.
  • Prepare, present and evaluate new Fitness programs to maximize wellness throughout Burcham Hills Life Plan Community.
  • Maintain knowledge of all wellness equipment, center rules / policies, etc.
  • Give Wellness Center orientations and hold informational sessions about programs to new residents.
  • Participate in duties such as filing, copying, data entry and communication with residents, family members and employees.

 Position Specifications:

 Education and Experience: 

  • 1 year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with geriatrics in a long-term care, assisted living or other related residential health care setting.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  •  Must be compassionate and have a love for eldercare, provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic and upbeat professional, and be able to build relationships with the internal and external customers.
  •  Basic knowledge of medical terminology, diagnoses, issues and conditions related to resident functioning.
  •  Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills with an high standard for accuracy and attention to detail.
  •  Ability to function independently and follow moderately complex instructions, once work tasks have been assigned.
  •  Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, measure and interpret the program goals, objectives, policies and procedures etc., that are necessary for providing quality recreation programs.
  •  Proficient using Word Processing Systems, Publisher, Excel & Power Point.
